The
ensemble Les
Inégales specializes
in French Baroque Music from the 17.
and 18.
centuries. The ensemble's repertoire also includes masterpieces from
other European countries (with programs such as: Music
at the Court of Frederick the Great,
The
Art of Italian Ornamentation,
Àlla
Bach)
as well as contemporary music on period instruments (programs include
works by award winning Chilean composer Javier Farías).
Founded in 1995 by Rodrigo Tarraza, Baroque Transverse Flute or Traverso and
Christine Gevert, Harpsichord and Organ, the group has performed and recorded in Europe
and South America, and relocated to the east coast of the U.S. in
2001.
Among the most acclaimed its recording for Carpe
Diem,
Berlin (Germany), is "Ordinaire
de la Chambre du Roi ",
featuring French baroque music. Since 2011 Dutch virtuoso recorder soloist Tricia van Oers is a regular member of the ensemble. The ensemble performs frequently with
guest musicians, such as viola da gamba players Petr Wagner (Prague),
Jane Hershey, Laury Gutiérrez and Anne Legêne and other soloists.
The
commitment of its founding members to study and use in performance
practice the original sources, their use of high quality period
instruments, together with their vast experience as soloists, members
and conductors of baroque ensembles and orchestras, as well as of
ensembles that perform modern and experimental music, are the ground
of their innovative style of interpretation.
